We Offer

Retreats

We regularly host meditation retreats, online and in person, ranging in length from mornings to full weekends. Led by a variety of experienced teachers our retreats provide the space for more in depth explorations of teachings and techniques both ancient and modern. These are opportunities to develop an expanded and deeper understanding of your practice. Whatever your schedule we strive to offer something that fits.

Morning, Evening, and Day Retreats

Morning and evening retreats are a convenient way to experience the benefits of concentrated and thorough practice methods.

We regularly offer immersive day retreats curated and led by our selected teachers. These are an opportunity for you to explore in depth meditation methods, familiarize yourself with the writings and instructions of historical teachers, and investigate the many philosophies and lineages informing meditation practice.

Whether you are interested in attending in person and further connecting with the community, or joining online from the convenience of your own space, we offer retreats designed to meet your needs.

Frequently Asked Questions

Do I need any meditation experience?
Our morning, evening, and day retreats are designed to be accessible for all levels of experience, even those who have never meditated before. Each retreat will specify if additional experience is recommended. We invite you to explore.

Cold drinking water and hot water for complimentary tea service are freely available for all programs. During morning and evening retreats we provide light snacks. When attending day retreats we recommend bringing your own meal for which there is a refrigerator and microwave available.
What is a typical schedule like?
Morning and evening retreats are typically 3-4 hours in length. Day retreats are generally 9am to 3pm with a scheduled lunch period. There are gender neutral restrooms and free parking is available.

We take frequent breaks, and encourage comfort and freedom of movement. You are welcome to sit, lay down or move as needed in our spacious meditation hall.

What to Expect

If this is your first weekend retreat or you are seeking a supportive space for your practice, we are available to answer any questions you may have.

What is a typical weekend like?
There is a custom schedule created for each weekend retreat including meditation sessions, dharma talks, mealtimes and more. The days are structured in a way to best support you during your retreat experience. You will receive a complete schedule and guidance packet in advance of a retreat.
What kind of food is there?
Breakfast, lunch and dinner are communal and provided at scheduled times. Menus are vegetarian with an emphasis on healthy, fresh and flavorful foods. Hot coffee, tea and snacks are freely available throughout the day. If you have specific dietary restrictions, let us know when registering.
Should I wear a certain type of clothing?
Loose fitting seasonally appropriate clothing that can be layered is recommended. We want you to be comfortable and it can get cold in the fall, warm in the spring and often is sunny year round. Clothing without logos or messaging is best in order to minimize distraction for your fellow participants.
How are the sleeping accommodations?
Private rooms and shared rooms are available for reservation and there is a waitlist for specific requests. We ask that you bring your own sleeping bag or comforter, pillows and a battery operated alarm clock.
What are the restrooms like?
There are clean bathroom and shower facilities available in private, gender neutral and dorm style. You will need to bring your own towel, toiletry and shower supplies.
Are there transportation options?
Participants may drive themselves or join a carpool sign up with fellow attendees as a driver or passenger. Free on-site parking is available.
Is there internet?
There is no internet access for guests. You can bring devices such as a phone but there is virtually no reception and we ask that devices be stowed and turned off during the retreat.
Want to know more?
A complete guidance and schedule packet is sent to all participants upon registration. We are happy to answer any questions you may have.

Yokoji Zen Mountain Center

Founded in 1982, this center is open to people of all spiritual traditions who would like to directly experience, and gain insight into, their true nature. Set within the heart of the beautiful forest and rugged grandeur of the San Jacinto Mountains, the Zen Center is nestled in a canyon along the Pacific Crest Trail. This unique setting with purpose-built meditation halls and accommodations enable participants to rest deeply into the silence of the mountain.

Yokoji is an eco-friendly community operating off-grid and living in harmony with the land. Water is drawn from onsite wells which deliver gravity fed stone-filtered water.
