Franz Manfredi’s abiding interest in the spiritual traditions of South and Southeast Asia was sparked as a young child and began his study and practice of Hindu meditation and philosophy at eight years of age. During three pilgrimages to India he received various tantric empowerments and instructions in the Dakshina Kali and Barsana Vaishnava traditions. He completed his undergraduate degree in the world music program at CalArts.
In 2013 he began an independent in-depth study and practice of Early Buddhism as presented in the Sutta Pitaka. Franz felt a growing desire to share the transformative power of the Buddha’s teachings and was invited to teach at Long Beach Meditation by founder and teacher emeritus Dr. Victor Byrd in 2015. Continually amazed and inspired by the incredible depth and diverse beauty in all of Buddhism, Franz is advancing his education under the expert guidance of Jokai Blackwell Roshi and has taken Refuge with Dzogchen master James Low. Franz’s passion to share the teachings of the Buddha was birthed from the revolution these have created in his own life. Franz lives in the beautiful city of Long Beach with his beloved family.
