Description

The ceremony of Jukai  (ju: receive, kai: precepts) is the formalization of a dharma adherent’s path in the lineage of Zen Buddhism.

As we enter the new year Franz Manfredi will be receiving the precepts from Jokai Roshi, formally marking his entry into an established stream of the Soto Zen lineage, an unbroken line tracing its beginnings to the Buddha. A core teacher at Long Beach Meditation, Franz has extensive experience in Buddhist practice. He continues his studies with Dzogchen master James Low and will now deepen his formal connection with Zen by receiving a lineage chart (kechimyaku) and dharma name from Jokai Roshi. All are welcome to attend and witness this special ceremony.

Franz Manfredi

Amazed and inspired by the incredible depth and diversity in every tradition of Buddhism, Franz endeavors to share the harmony he sees between them all. Rooted in his ongoing studies of the Suttas, Mahayana, and Dzogchen, Franz’s passion to share the teachings of the Buddha springs from the revolution they have created in his own life.
