Description

Please join us this spring as we return to Yokoji-Zen Mountain Center for a 3-night silent retreat. Set within the heart of the beautiful, rugged grandeur of the San Jacinto Mountains, and supported by our learned dharma teachers, we will follow a time-honored schedule of seated meditation, walking meditation, dharma talks and nutritious vegetarian meals, with time for rest and reflection. This fall we will once again have the special opportunity to rejuvenate with a sound bath. Wake up in the morning to the sights and sounds of the forest wilderness and share each day in the company of dharma friends, as we practice mindful awareness at an authentic Buddhist Retreat Center.  Please join us this fall in our mountain refuge.

The retreat includes guidance in meditation techniques as well as dharma talks from our LBM teachers. You are welcome to join us regardless of your level of experience in meditation. We will break our silence Sunday morning with a council circle, followed by lunch.

There is limited capacity and spaces go quickly. Reserve your place now.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is a typical day like?

There is a custom timetable designed for each retreat complete with scheduled meditation sessions, dharma talks, mealtimes etc. This schedule is designed to best support you during your retreat experience. You will receive a complete schedule and guidance packet in advance of the retreat.

What kind of food is there? Can my dietary needs be accommodated?

Breakfast, lunch and dinner are communal and provided at scheduled times. Menus are vegetarian with an emphasis on healthy, delicious, fresh and savory flavor profiles. Hot coffee, tea and snacks are freely available throughout the day in the Dining Hall. If you have specific dietary restrictions, please be sure to indicate this at time of registration.

What are the restrooms like?

There are clean bathroom and shower facilities available in both private and dorm style. Plan to bring your own towel and shower supplies.

What are the sleeping accommodations?

Private rooms and shared rooms are available for reservation and there is a waitlist for specific requests. We ask that you bring your own sleeping bag or comforter, pillow(s) and a battery operated alarm clock.

What type of clothing should I wear?

Loose fitting seasonally appropriate clothing is recommended. We want you to be comfortable and it can get cold in the fall, warm in the spring and often is sunny year round. Please select clothing without logos or messaging to minimize distraction for your fellow participants.

Are there transportation options?

Participants may drive themselves or sign up to join a carpool with fellow attendees as a driver or passenger. There is free on-site parking available.

Is there internet?

There is no internet access for guests. You can bring devices such as a phone but there is virtually no reception and we ask that you please keep your devices stowed and turned off.
