Description
The Dalai Lama once said, “If every 8 year old in the world is taught meditation, we will eliminate violence from the world within one generation.”
Our youth program is offered through classes held on a quarterly basis. We offer a welcoming, inclusive, and safe space for families to practice meditation. Our classes are designed to cultivate kindness, understanding, and connection to our surrounding world. Adults are required to accompany their children to class. While we invite the attending adults to purposefully follow along, we ask that you also help us create space for children’s voices to be centered and amplified.
Benefits of mindfulness for families:
- Improved focus and concentration
- Increased sense of calm and skillful response to difficult emotions
- Increased empathy and care for each other
Upcoming 2025 Dates:
September 28th
This class is facilitated by Christine Pham.
Christine has been an Early Childhood Education Teacher for over 15 years. Born and raised in New York City, she has embraced many roles in the realm of education, including preschool teacher, kindergarten teacher, ABA therapist, and Early Intervention Specialist.
Her journey into the world of Buddhism began in college in 2006 when she encountered her first book on the subject. Intrigued by the teachings, Christine immersed herself in the wisdom of various texts and began to explore the path through meditation groups. She visited temples, attended retreats, and embraced a personal practice that deepened her understanding.
In 2019 Christine moved to California, and in 2022 she joined Long Beach Meditation as a sangha member. By 2024, she had taken an important step in her spiritual journey, becoming a student of Tim Colohan JDPSN, Kwan Um School of Zen and one of the teachers at Long Beach Meditation. Her commitment to cultivating mindfulness and deepening her practice continues to grow.
Christine is inspired to weave together her extensive experience in teaching with her passion for Zen to create harmonious meditation spaces for young people and their families. She is dedicated to fostering a nurturing, compassionate environment where the art of meditation can be cultivated and integrated into daily life. Christine wholeheartedly believes that meditation is a vital skill for today’s youth, helping them remain grounded in their true selves and navigate the fast currents of modern existence with clarity, calmness, and confidence.
