Located 5,600 feet above sea level, Yokoji Zen Mountain Center is nestled within Apple Canyon just outside Idyllwild-Pine Cove. This unique setting and purpose-built grounds allows participants to sink deep into the silence of the mountains, enjoying the peace and tranquility that this valley offers. A welcomed opportunity to experience a focused meditation retreat led by our guiding teacher, Jokai Blackwell Roshi. Many of the LBM Board of Directors and Teachers will also be in attendance.

Jokai Blackwell Roshi

Jokai Blackwell Roshi relocated to Southern California from the UK in 2000 to study with Charles Tenshin Fletcher Roshi at Yokoji Zen Mountain Center. After completing formal study, encompassing over a decade of residential training and service, he received Dharma Transmission (full authorization to teach) in the White Plum Lineage of Zen Buddhism. Jokai emphasizes the direct experience of awakening using contemporary language and time-honored methods
